Membership Opportunities
Everyday,
UCT members have the opportunity to be special people. Fraternally,
they can reach within themselves and bring out care, love and
compassion for their fellow man. They freely serve others with time,
talent and energy. You, too, can become active. Here are a few ways
you can become involved:
Aid to
people who are mentally challenged-This is UCT's No.1 charitable
project. UCT is proud to have been a Silver Sponsor for both the 1987
and 1991 International Summer Special Olympics Games, with total
donations of $40,000 to the Canadian Winter Special Olympics in 1988.
Local councils raise funds as well as support schools and workshops
for mentally challenged people within their area.
Youth
Programs-realizing the need to keep children involved in organized
activities and away from adverse influences, UCT councils are
involved in a variety of youth programs. Local councils support
activities which include Boy, Girl and Cub Scout troops; Little
League,Pony League,Babe Ruth baseball programs and drug awareness.
Every year UCT holds its international Junior Golf Tournament for
boys and girls.
Cancer
Education and Prevention-UCT members conduct educational meetings for
members and the public. Through their efforts Hospice Care lodges are
equipped; dressings are prepared and needed equipment is
donated.
Public
Safety Education — Safety programs provided at our local council
level dealing with driving, home, firearms, recreation and emergency
care have been cite by effectiveness. UCT also sponsors its annual
International Safety Poster Contest.
